SALT LAKE CITY – The 2025 UHSAA football championships are underway as schools across the state vie for prep gridiron glory.
Week two of the playoffs sends the Game Night Live Game of the Week to feature the No. 8 Syracuse Titans hosting the No. 9 Westlake Thunder.

Game Night Live: Playoffs Week Two
Westlake Thunder @ Syracuse Titans
Westlake (7-3, 4-2 Region 2) saw a three-game winning streak snapped in its season finale when the Maple Ridge Sentinels handed them a 35-28 road loss. The Thunder averaged more than 40 points per game during the winning streak.
Senior two-way star Malik Sika leads Westlake with 16 touchdowns while averaging 112 receiving yards per game. Senior QB Bosten Fountaine tossed 26 touchdown passes and scored four times on the ground. The Thunder players recorded at least eight sacks, led by ten QB takedowns from junior defensive end Cooper White. Senior linebacker Dresen Afuvai averaged a robust 16.3 tackles per game, followed by 12.1 stops from Sosefo Lopa.
Syracuse (6-3, 2-2 Region 1) was running away with Region 1 before dropping two of three games to close the season. The Titans ended the regular season with a disappointing 27-21 home loss to the Farmington Phoenix.
Dual-threat junior QB Ledger Wright led the Titans with 20 touchdown passes and ten rushing scores. Senior wideout Tanner Merrill caught eight TD passes, and senior running back Ryker Van Komen averaged 96.2 rushing yards per game. Junior linebacker Tristan Ha’o averaged eight tackles per game, and senior lineman Ben Cook registered 6.5 sacks. Junior defensive back Kaleb Hall had three interceptions.
Kickoff for the Game Night Live Game of the Week between Lone Peak and Bishop Gorman is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT. Kickoff time is subject to change. The game will be broadcast on sports.ksl.com and the KSL Sports app.
