Lone Peak-Bishop Gorman Game Ends In Forfeit After Second Half Fight

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – The Lone Peak Knights and Bishop Gorman Gaels game ended in controversy early in the third period when officials cancelled the rest of the game.
Lone Peak was charged with a forfeit after more than three players left the sideline to enter a fight early in the third quarter. Bishop Gorman gets the 35-14 win.

The Lone Peak Knights traveled to Las Vegas for a matchup with the No. 3 Bishop Gorman Gaels on Friday, September 5.
First Quarter
Bishop Gorman won the toss and deferred to Lone Peak. The Knights made little progress on their first possession before punting.
The Gaels’ high-powered offense moved the ball deep into the red zone with little resistance. QB Maika Eugenio tossed a 12-yard scoring pass to Zyren Menor, making it 7-0 with 7:50 left in the period.
Lone Peak’s first turnover resulted in a pick-six early in the next possession. Kepa Niumeitolu threw a pass in the flat straight to a defender for an easy score.

Lone Peak approached midfield before punting on its next possession, giving the team a chance to flip field position.
It didn’t make a difference after two long completions gave Bishop Gorman a 21-0 lead with 2:13 left.
Second Quarter
Lone Peak forced the Gaels into a three-and-out to open the second period.
Niumeitolu launched a deep ball on 3rd-and-1 to Jaron Pula streaking down the sideline. The University of Utah commit reeled in the pass and trotted into the end zone.

Bishop Gorman responded with its third scoring drive of the half.
Eugenio rolled to his right before splitting two defenders with a dart into the end zone. The extra point gave the Gaels a 28-7 lead with 5:52 left in the half.
The Knights took the kickoff and put together their second consecutive extended drive. Lone Peak cut the deficit in half on Pula’s second TD of the night.

The Gaels needed less than a minute to drive the length of the field for another touchdown.
Eugenio drilled Massiah Mingo at the goal-line for a 35-14 halftime lead.
