No. 4 Timpview Takes Down No. 19 Orem In High-Scoring Contest

SALT LAKE CITY – The fourth-ranked Timpview Thunderbirds scored early and often and held off 19th-ranked Orem 62-42 on the road on Friday night.

No. 4 Timpview 62 @ No. 19 Orem 42

Isaiah Vaea and Kerven Tua’one each ran in two touchdowns for Timpview. Helaman Casuga threw three touchdowns to Quezon Villa twice and once to Jared Esplin. Siale Esera recorded a pick-six. For Orem, Lance Reynolds accounted for three touchdowns, two passing and one rushing. Cole Johnson also scored a touchdown on the ground. Feleti Iongi returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

Here are all of the results in the 5A classification from the eighth week of the 2022 high school football season.

Region 5

No. 17 Bountiful 17 @ Viewmont 7

Bountiful kicked a field goal just before halftime. Viewmont scored a touchdown on a connection between Luke Jacobs and Landon Jeppeson late in the third quarter. Midway through the fourth, Brigham Morrison ran in a touchdown to give Bountiful the lead. Ford Creswell sealed the win with a pick-six.

Woods Cross 35 @ Box Elder 21

A big win for Woods Cross. Bradley Bailey passed for three touchdowns, finding Ryan Moss, Jacob Howes, and Josh Bennion. Kelvan Malepeai and Cash Henderson each ran in a score. For Box Elder, Ryan Griffin threw two touchdowns, one each to Jackson McKee and Cole Mortensen. Easton White added a touchdown on the ground.

Bonneville 42 @ Northridge 7

Jaxon Johnson led the Bonneville rushing attack with three touchdowns. Tifaga Havili added a score on the ground. Cole Lueders threw two touchdowns, one each to Gavin Pelagio-Williams and Max Diaz. Porter Olsen threw Northridge’s only TD to Jaxon Fresques.

Region 6

No. 20 East 63 @ Skyline 24 (Thurs.)

Amini Amone and Michael Fonua each ran in two touchdowns for the Leopards. Nasio Otukolo, Jerrick Little, and Tucker McCormick each added a rushing score. Chase Barker recorded a pick-six and John Amone returned a blocked kick for a score. For Skyline, Josh Calvert connected with Luke Wright on two touchdowns, while Porter Brockman ran in a score.

No. 13 Park City 33 @ No. 11 Brighton 47

Park City held a 33-25 lead entering the fourth quarter before the Bengals scored 22 unanswered in the final period. Kace Gurr ran in four touchdowns. Jack Johnson threw two TD’s to Nash Matheson. For Park City, Chase Beyer threw a touchdown to Joseph Eldridge and ran in a score. Mason Grover had two rushing touchdowns.

Highland 49 @ Murray 0

Afi Tonga started the game with a pick-six. Peizge Mailei threw a touchdown to Max Erickson and ran in a score as well. Joe Fonua led the rushing attack with two touchdowns. Maika Vea and Zedrick Fifita each added a rushing score.

Region 7

Mountain View 7 @ No. 7 Stansbury 49

Ezra Harris and Coleman Dearden each threw a touchdown, connecting with Kayson Roberts and Dylan Hamilton. Harris added a rushing TD, while Luke Daynes ran in three scores.

Tooele 7 @ No. 22 Payson 42

Kade Edwards and Dylan Wall each threw a touchdown to Cooper Swasey. Jaxon Bulkley had two rushing touchdowns with Trevyn Wall adding one on the ground.

Uintah 11 @ Cedar Valley 31

Cooper Thomson accounted for three touchdowns, two passing and one rushing. He found Noah Burnham and Joe Lomu. Lomu also had a rushing touchdown.

Hillcrest 14 @ Timpanogos 51

Luke Livingston and Chase Riggs each threw a touchdown. They connected with Dash McCann and Caleb Hadley. Livingston also had a rushing touchdown. Jaden Robinson added one while Easton Bretzig found the end zone twice on the ground.

Region 8

No. 1 Lehi 20 @ Alta 0

Carson Gonzalez ran in a touchdown for the Pioneers. Nathan Anderegg had a pick-six that sealed the shutout win over the Hawks.

Region 9

Salem Hills 19 @ Provo 35

Kyson Condie threw a touchdown pass to Drew Deucher. Tagai Lesa added two rushing scores for Provo. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 28-0 lead in the first half and was able to hold off the SkyHawks.

No. 12 Springville 74 @ Maple Mountain 20

Ryder Burton threw three touchdown passes, one each to Luke Nadauld, Kasanova Valeti, and William Monney. Valeti also ran in two touchdowns, as did Brooks Thorpe. William Emory, Walker Dede, and Tevita Valeti each ran in a score for the Red Devils.

No. 24 Spanish Fork 56 @ Wasatch 20

Will Dart had two touchdowns, one passing to Ty Bona and one rushing. Joshua Buck led the way with three rushing touchdowns. Kaden Vest and Teni Worthen each added a score on the ground.

Non-Region

Weber 27 (6A) @ Olympus 15

A consistent effort from the Warriors helped them earned a second win this season. Tyce Abbott accounted for two Weber touchdowns. With the result, the Warriors improved to a 2-6 record and the Titans dropped to a 3-5 record.

Cottonwood 25 @ Jordan 24

Cottonwood made a field goal in the final seconds to pick up their second win in the season. Brock Simpson threw two touchdowns to Donald Ma’ae and Kaelen Gray, while running in a score. Jordan had three touchdown passes from Colton Austin, connecting Derell Nichols twice and Jakarin Owens once.
