Orem Tigers Defense Controls Timpview At Home

OREM, Utah – Timpview couldn’t find any offensive momentum as the Orem Tigers pulled away for a definitive 22-9 win over their Region 7 rival.

First Quarter
Orem took the opening kickoff and moved into Thunderbird territory with ease behind QB Tayden-evan Kaawa and WR Max Stonebreaker.
The drive ended in disaster when a fumble on 1st-&-Goal from the two bounced into Timpview’s hands.
Timpview’s first drive of the night ended after a single first down. Orem took over near midfield following a punt.
The Tigers struggled on their second possession, punting after a three-and-out.
Second Quarter
A pair of pass interference penalties gave the Thunderbirds offense a boost, moving them into Tigers territory for the first time.
The drive ended with a 33-yard field goal from Lukas Thornock to take a 3-0 lead with 5:24 left in the half. The 15-play drive took up more than seven minutes of game time.
Orem ended up punting and nearly got the football back after the kick was muffed. Timpview jumped on the loose ball to take over near the 50-yard line.
Overthrown passes and general poor offensive execution, combined with penalties and attacking defenses, made the first half a defensive and special teams battle.
A huge pass play in the final minute moved Orem into scoring position.

With the clock winding down, Oliver Bills caught a screen pass and picked up a couple of blocks, springing him for a 20-yard catch and run touchdown.
The Tigers led 7-3 at the break.
Third Quarter
Timpview’s first drive of the half ended with a punt.
On first down, Kaawa connected with Mack Ellison over the middle for a 50-yard pass play. Later in the drive, Timpview was flagged for pass interference, keeping the drive alive in the red zone.
The possession ended with a 33-yard Ben Bradley field goal, giving the Tigers a 10-3 lead.
Timpview continued to struggle against a potent Orem defense, punting after a three-and-out.
Orem was threatening to increase the lead late in the period, but Tonga Tauteoli picked off a pass in the flat for the Tigers’ second giveaway of the night. A 15-yard personal foul after the play gave Timpview the football at their own 42-yard line.

Two plays later, Aisa Galeai intercepted Thunderbird QB Dennis Tuaone and returned the ball into Thunderbird territory.
Orem didn’t mess around, handing the football to Beckham Curtis for a rushing touchdown around the left side of the line.
The score remained 16-3 Orem after a failed extra point.
Fourth Quarter
After a punt to open the quarter, Orem picked off a deep pass to get the football back.
Penalties continued to be an issue for both teams down the stretch.
Orem put the game away when Aisa Galeai took a pitch before reversing field and galloped through the Thunderbird secondary for a back-breaking TD.
Timpview added a 59-yard touchdown pass to Braxton Wilkerson with under a minute to play.
The Tigers held on for the 22-9 win.
