SALT LAKE CITY – The Northridge Knights shocked the No. 22 West Field Longhorns with a 42-38 win in week seven of 5A high school football on Friday.

Trailing 38-27 heading into the fourth quarter, the Knights would go on to score 15 unanswered, with the home crowd getting louder after every catch and first down.

Northridge quarterback Grant Slater threw five touchdowns in the win. Dontae Dyson had two receiving scores. Seon Kumar, Makai So’o, Roman Fitisemanu, and Banon Green also got into the end zone.

The result gave Northridge its second win and West Field its second loss.

Week 7 Recap For 5A Utah High School Football

Region 4

Hillcrest Huskies 20 @ West Jordan Jaguars 48

The West Jordan Jaguars scored 21 points in the first quarter and cruised to a comfortable week seven win over the Hillcrest Huskies. West Jordan also scored 13 in the second quarter and 14 in the fourth. Quarterback Tyson Dunn threw four touchdowns, split evenly between two receivers: Nia Ioapo and Porter Creasy. Cody Johnson had two scores on the ground.

No. 9 West Panthers 70 @ Taylorsville Warriors 6

Fresh off a 79-point performance in week six, the West Panthers cracked 70 once again in a win over the Taylorsville Warriors. The Panthers have scored 60 or more points in four straight weeks. Lester Falatea had a memorable performance for West. He scored three touchdowns: one on the ground, one on a 62-yard punt return, and one on an 80-yard return off a blocked kick.

Granger Lancers 26 @ Cyprus Pirates 6

The Granger Lancers scored all 26 of their points across two quarters in a win over the Cyprus Pirates in week seven. Granger’s defense was the hero on the road in Cyprus, not allowing the Pirates into the end zone. Emilio Quezada got the team on the board with two field goals in the second quarter.

Hunter Wolverines 51 @ Kearns Cougars 14

The Hunter Wolverines opened their win over the Kearns Cougars with 22 unanswered points, and put the cherry on top with 14 unanswered in the fourth. All seven of Hunter’s TDs came on the ground. Isi Moungaafi had three touchdowns, and Connor Anderson added two more.

Region 5

Roy Royals 28 @ Clearfield Falcons 21

The Roy Royals scored 14 points in the fourth quarter of their win over the Clearfield Falcons in week seven. Clearfield quarterback Brik Barlow tried to keep his team in it with three total touchdowns, two through the air and the third on the ground. But his effort ended up falling just short.

No. 21 Box Elder Bees 60 @ Bonneville Lakers 27

The Bow Elder Bees scored 28 points in the first quarter and sailed to a big win over the Bonneville Lakers on Friday. Eight of the Bees’ nine touchdowns came on the ground. Junior running back Judd Howells finished with four touchdowns. Box Elder improved to 5-1 with the win.

Region 6

Olympus Titans 10 @ No. 25 Brighton Bengals 14

The Brighton Bengals prevailed over the Olympus Titans in a defensive-minded week seven contest on Friday. The Bengals scored two touchdowns in the first half but then were stonewalled by the Olympus defense. The Titans scored once in the second quarter and added a field goal in the fourth, but Brighton’s defense gave them similar treatment.

No. 17 Woods Cross Wildcats 35 @ Alta Hawks 14

The Woods Cross Wildcats built up a 21-point lead in the first half and strolled to the finish line against the Alta Hawks. Woods Cross’ Viliami Tapa’atoutai and Teiyon Halbasch each had two scores in the win. Both of Alta’s TDs were long connections from Tucker Brown to Evan Morton.

Bountiful Redhawks 42 @ Viewmont Vikings 14

The Bountiful Redhaws’ offense came to play in a big win over the Viewmont Vikings on Friday. Bountiful scored at least one touchdown in each quarter, with two scores in the second and third. Quarterback Hudson Malmrose had three touchdown passes, each to a different receiver.

Region 7

Maple Mountain Golden Eagles 0 @ No. 14 Springville Red Devils 28

The score looks worse than what actually happened on the field, but the Springville Devils still took care of business against the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles on Friday. At halftime, the Red Devils led 7-0. The lead was just 14-0 heading into the fourth. However, the Golden Eagles’ offense could never really get going, and Springville doubled its lead in the fourth.

Pleasant Grove Vikings 21 @ Wasatch Wasps 20

The Pleasant Grove Vikings took a one-point lead in the third quarter and never looked back, picking up a win over the Wastach Wasps in week seven. Pleasant Grove quarterback Connor Ybarra threw three touchdowns to three different receivers. Rocky Wilcox, Landan Forstpointner, and Adam Wright all got in the end zone for the Vikings.

Payson Lions 21 @ Spanish Fork Dons 42

The Spanish Fork Dons scored 21 points in the second quarter and 14 in the fourth quarter of their win over the Payson Lions on Friday. Quarterback Nixon Warren had four total touchdowns, two through the air and two with his legs. Caleb Grant also had two rushing touchdowns against Payson.

Non-Region

Farmington Phoenix 24 (6A) @ No. 5 Fremont Silverwolves 17

The Farmington Phoenix scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter of their win over the Fremont Silverwolves on Thursday. Kava Fiefia had two touchdowns for the Phoenix, one on the ground and one through the air.
