SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Tony Finau and Cameron Champ are playing together in this year’s edition of the QBE Shootout and finished the first round three shots back from the leaders Kevin Na and Sean O’Hair.

This week, 16 players are calling Naples, Florida home as they fight to secure the $3.6 million purse. The QBE Shootout consists of three rounds over three days in which the format varies every day.

Round one began this morning, with teams playing under the scramble format meaning both players on a team hit off the tee box. The team will then be able to choose the better of the two shots off the tee. That process continues until the ball finds the bottom of the cup.

Finau and Champ started their first round on fire with an eagle on the par 5, first hole. The momentum continued and quickly found themselves seven-under-par through seven holes.

However, back-to-back pars on eight and nine succumbed the long-hitting duo to seven-under at the turn.

The back nine was very similar to the front with four more birdies aiding the scorecard.

The second eagle of the day dropped on 17 after Finau stuck an iron tight and proceeded to sink the five-foot putt.

Finau and Champ finished at 13-under-par.

Second Round Info

The second round will be played as a modified alternate shot format.

Tee times for the second round are yet to be released.
