Four Local Celebrities Compete In Lake Tahoe Golf Tournament

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. – Four celebrities with ties to the state of Utah competed in the American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe South in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

Former BYU and NFL standout quarterbacks Steve Young and Jim McMahon along with former Ute Eric Weddle and former Jazzman Deron Williams competed in the tournament.

Mardy Fish won the tournament with a 76 tournament score. Kyle Williams finished in second with a 67, John Smoltz third with a 58 and Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry ended with a 56 which was good for fourth place.

The former NBA All-Star point guard is known to be a very good golfer even when he was still playing in the NBA. Among the four locals participating, Williams had the best score of the four with a 39. He finished in 13th place.

Williams started the tournament in 14th place and had a 13 score after each of the three rounds at the tournament.

Jim McMahon

The former BYU star had an 8 score and shooting a 15 after the first round, -6 in the second round and -1 in the third round.

McMahon finished the tournament tied for 33rd with Joe Don Rooney and Kyle Fuller.

Eric Weddle

The former Utah and NFL All-Pro safety ended his three rounds of action with a score of 4. He had a score of 4 after the first round, 3 in the second round and -3 in the third round.

Weddle finished tied for 38th with Patrick Mahomes.

Steve Young

The former BYU and NFL Hall of Famer shot a -23 in the tournament after scoring a -6 in the opening round, -11 in the second round and -6 in the third round.

Young finished in 54th place behind Kira K. Dixon and in front of Jimmy Rollins and Charles Woodson.
