Jason Day Plays Day Three Of Travelers Championship As A Single After Coronavirus Test

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – PGA Tour golfer Jason Day played his third round at the Travelers Championship as a single after he was tested for the coronavirus disease, COVID-19.

Day’s tee time on Saturday, June 27 was moved to a later time after he requested to be tested for the virus in the morning.

The golfer was originally slated to start his round at 8:09 a.m (EDT). Day’s tee time was pushed to 9:15 a.m. to allow more time for the results of the test.

Day opened his third round on the 10th hole and played alone.

During his round, the PGA Tour announced in a statement that Day had tested negative for COVID-19.

If Day had tested positive for the coronavirus disease, he would have been immediately removed from the course and put into isolation, per. PGA Tour rules.

Day opened the third day of the Travelers Championship nine shots back on the leaderboard. Phil Mickelson started the start atop the leaderboard.

After shooting a 69 on Saturday, Day will enter Sunday’s final round 13 shots back of Brendon Todd, who ended Saturday with the lead.
