Patrick Fishburn Finishes One Shot Behind Utah Championship Winner Andrew Kozan

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah local Patrick Fishburn came within one shot of forcing a playoff at the Utah Championship but instead settled for a tie for second behind champion Andrew Kozan.
Fishburn, 30, shared second place alongside Ashton Van Horne and Justin Suh at 20-under-par. It is the best finish in Fishburn’s career on the Korn Ferry Tour. Previously, he had finished inside the top 10 on three occasions, but never as high as second place.
Fishburn’s Final Utah Championship Round
Fishburn began his round with a birdie on the opening hole and made two more front nine birdies to make the turn at 3-under for the day. Fishburn then caught fire making three consecutive birdies on holes 10, 11, and 12 to put himself in contention. Another birdie dropped on 15 but Fishburn found trouble on the scoreable par 4 17th.

His tee shot went right of the fairway and he was forced to hit his approach under trees. Unfortunately, his approach ran through the green and into the rough. His third shot then fell 10 feet short of the cup and he missed his par attempt by millimeters and was forced to tap in for bogey.
Fishburn capped off a breakthrough week with a birdie on 18 in front of a packed gallery.
However, the day belonged to Andrew Kozan who concluded his tournament at 21-under-par following a final round of 8-under-par.
Other Locals In The Field
Other locals who impressed included Peter Kuest, who finished in a tie for fifth at 19-under-par. Zac Blair and Daniel Summerhays ended at 13-under-par and Austen Christiansen shared a tie of 47th at 11-under.

As a result of finishing in a tie for 2nd, Fishburn climbed the Korn Ferry Tour rankings moving from 71st to 46th. Kuest went from 170th to 125, Blair 147 to 136. Christiansen and Summerhays were playing on a sponsors exception.
The final week of the Korn Ferry Tour concludes next week in Omaha, Nebraska, at the Pinnacle Bank Championship.
Korn Ferry Tour Finals Explained
The top 25 players following next week’s event will receive a PGA Tour card. Then, following the Korn Ferry Tour Finals, which consists of three events, another 25 players will be granted PGA Tour status.
With a good week at the Pinnacle Bank Championship, Fishburn could be PGA Tour bound or at the very least put himself in a position to compete for the 25 PGA Tour cards throughout the Korn Ferry Tour Finals.
