Tony Finau Ties Lowest Career Opening Round In Major At PGA Championship

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Tony Finau has finished the first round of the PGA Championship two shots behind the leaders after shooting a three-under, 67.

Finau teed off on the 10th hole and birdied the first two holes to get to two-under-par immediately. He stumbled on hole 13 to bring him back to one-under-par, he would ultimately make the turn at one-under-par after paring out the remaining five holes.

His back nine began as well as his front did with back to back birdies on holes one and two. A bogey on six followed by a birdie on seven and Finau ended with a total of 5 birdies, 2 bogeys and 11 par’s for a three-under, 67.

Martin Kaymer, Zac Johnson and Xander Schauffele are all tied for the lead at five-under-par.

Many other notables are yet to tee off or finish their first-round, however, reigning PGA Championship champion Brooks Koepka currently sits at four-under-par through 14 holes and Tiger Woods is two-under through 14.

Finau is partnered alongside Patrick Cantlay and Danny Willet. They will tee off the first hole to begin their second-round at 1:52 p.m. on Friday.
