The annual East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 watch list dropped Monday, with 28 local college football standouts earning early recognition as potential participants in January’s all-star game.

11 BYU Cougars, 11 Utah Utes, five Utah State Aggies, and one Weber State Wildcat were highlighted by the Shrine Bowl team.

The Cougars on the list are kicker Will Ferrin, offensive tackle Andrew Gentry, linebacker Isaiah Glasker, long-snapper Garrison Grimes, linebacker Jack Kelly, wide receiver Parker Kingston, offensive guard Weylin Lapuaho, running back LJ Martin, wide receiver Chase Roberts, defensive tackle Keanu Tanuvasa, and safety Tanner Wall.

The Utes on the list are linebacker Lander Barton, quarterback Devon Dampier, linebacker Levani Damuni, offensive tackle Spencer Fano, edge Logan Fano, safety Tao Johnson, center Jaren Kump, offensive tackle Caleb Lomu, offensive guard Michael Mokofisi, cornerback Smith Snowden, and offensive tackle Tanoa Togiai.

The Aggies on the list are quarterback Bryson Barnes, defensive lineman Naki Fahina, tight end Broc Lane, safety Ike Larsen, and defensive lineman Tyree Morris. The Wildcat who made the list is offensive tackle Gavin Ortega.

Both Utah and BYU were in the top 20 for schools with the most players selected.

About The East-West Shrine Bowl

For the last 100 years, the East-West Shrine Bowl has held an all-star college football game to showcase the top players in the nation to both NFL scouts and the country.

The first ever game was held on December 26, 1925, at San Francisco’s Ewing Field in front of an audience of 25,000 fans. The annual event raises money for Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Typically separated by schools on each side of the Mississippi River, the West leads the all-time series 54-40-5. This year’s game will take place on Tuesday, January 27, at Ford Center in Frisco, Texas.
