AUGUSTA, Ga. – Tony Finau is in great position to take home a green jacket after taking the lead at the Masters on Saturday.

The Salt Lake City native entered the second-to-last round at Augusta National with a score of the 3-under par. Following an impressive round that took Finau just 64 strokes to complete. He is now tied with Francesco Molinari for first place with a score of 11-under par after entering the clubhouse at the end of his round. When Finau finished, Molinari still had a few holes to play.

Finau’s round begin with one of the best front nines in the history of the Masters. His score of 30, 6-under par at the turn tied the tournament record and made Finau just one of the six golfers to shoot a 30 on the front nine at the Masters.

His day started red hot as he knocked in three birdies to begin the third round. He also birdied on the sixth hole and finished with an eagle on the eighth to arrive at 6-under. He just missed a birdie putt on the ninth hole that would have made him the first player to score a 29 on the front nine.

Finau has won one tournament since receiving his PGA Tour card in 2014. Now, with one day left to play, he’s in excellent position to win his first major.

14-time major winner Tiger Woods is right on Finau’s tail with a score of 10-under par.
