49ers LB Fred Warner Records First Interception Of Season In Win Over Giants

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former BYU and current San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner recorded his first interception of the 2020 NFL season in a win over the New York Giants.

The Giants hosted the Niners on Sunday, September 27.
During the second quarter, Warner broke on a pass by New York quarterback Daniel Jones that was intended for Evan Engram. The former BYU linebacker picked off Jones and returned the ball to the Giants’ 32-yard line.
It was Warner’s first interception of the season and second of his NFL career. His first pick came during the 2019 season.

The following offensive possession for San Francisco resulted in a 26-yard field goal. The kick gave the Niners a 16-6 lead with three seconds left in the first half.
San Francisco went on to beat New York 36-9. The result improved the Niners’ record to 2-1 through the first three weeks of the season.
New York fell to 0-3 on the year.

Fred Warner in 2020
In three games this season, Warner has recorded 28 total tackles, 16 solo tackles, a pair of pass breakups, and an interception.
After losing to the Arizona Cardinals in the season-opener, Warner and the 49ers have won two straight games.
Prior to the start of the season, the former BYU linebacker was named as one of the Niners’ captains for the the 2020 season.
