Former USU LB Bobby Wagner Uncertain About Future With Seahawks

SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah State linebacker Bobby Wagner admitted that his future with the Seattle Seahawks is unknown with only a couple of weeks left in the season.
Wagner, 31, spoke about his future on Wednesday, December 29.
“You think about what the next year looks like and what the future holds because this was a season that I don’t think we all planned for,” Wagner said. “We didn’t plan for the season to go this way, so obviously there’s going to be some changes and whether or not I’m part of those changes, I don’t know.”

Despite an outstanding season individually, Wagner and the Seahawks have struggled as a team in 2021. Right now, Seattle owns a 5-10 record and will miss the playoffs for only the second time in the past decade.
“All I can control is these last two games and figure it out from there,” the eight-time Pro Bowl player continued. “Whatever the team thinks is the best thing to do moving forward, we’ll see how that plays out.”
According to ESPN, the former USU standout is slated to count more than $20 million towards Seattle’s salary cap in 2022 and none of his money is guaranteed.

This season, Wagner has recorded a career-high 170 total tackles, 92 solo tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, one interception, and five pass breakups.
During his 10-year career, Wagner has posted 1,383 total tackles, 818 solo tackles, 23.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, nine fumble recoveries, 11 interceptions, 60 pass breakups, and one touchdown in 150 games.
Wagner helped Seattle win Super Bowl XLVIII in 2013.
