INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Former Utah Utes defensive end Bradlee Anae turned some heads at the NFL Scouting Combine with great results that will certainly raise his draft stock.

A projected second or third round pick, Anae could be early second or possibly a first round selection after his NFL Combine results.

Anae was impressive in all of his drills that he competed in while all 32 NFL teams were represented in Indianapolis.

The NFL hands out prospect grades to each participant in the Combine that is based off of everything they do. The grading scale is from 5.0 to 8.0. An 8.0 grade is considered a perfect prospect. Anae was given a 6.22 grade which is above “good backup who could become starter” and below “will be starter within first two seasons.”

NFL Draft Analyst Lance Zierlein compared Anae to Dawuane Smoot.

Here are the measurements from the NFL for Anae.

  • Height: 6-3
  • Weight: 257 lbs.
  • Arms: 32 1/8″
  • Hands: 10 1/8″

40-Yard Dash

Anae ran a 4.93 40-yard dash which is good for 21st among a long list of defensive linemen. Notable names that finished below Anae’s time includes Iowa DE A.J. Epenesa (5.04), LSU’s Rashard Lawrence II (5.07), Alabama’s Raekwon Davis (5.12) and Ohio State’s DaVon Hamilton (5.14).

Among the defensive linemen, N.C. State’s James Smith-Williams had the fastest 40-yard dash time with 4.60.

Bench Press

Anae benched 25 reps of 225 lbs. at the Combine. That was good for eighth among all of the participants in his position group. He had more reps than Auburn’s Marlon Davidson (21), Penn State’s Yetur Gros-Matos (20) and Epenesa (17).

DaVon Hamilton from Ohio State had 33 reps which was the most in the Combine.

Vertical Jump

The vertical jump was a favorable drill for Anae who jumped 31 inches. That result was good for 10th among the defensive linemen. He performed better than James Lynch from Baylor (29), Alabama’s Davis (28) and Auburn star Derrick Brown (27).

Jonathan Garvin from Miami jumped 36 inches which was the most.

Derrick Brown had the longest time recorded at 8.22.
