Jordan Love, Packers Stay Undefeated With Thursday Night Win Over Washington

GREEN BAY, Wisc. – Former Utah State quarterback Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers improved to 2-0 with a win on Thursday Night Football over the Washington Commanders.
Love completed 19 of 31 pass attempts for 292 yards and two touchdowns in the week two victory.

Jordan Love, Packers Grab Primetime Win Over Washington
Love and the Packers offense started the game with the ball and quickly got to work.
A series of Josh Jacobs rushes and short, simple completions for Love had the Packers marching down the field. A false start and offensive holding put them in a 4th & 3 situation. They went for it, but failed to move the chains and turned the ball over on downs.
After a Commanders three-and-out, Love led the offense on seven plays and 96 yards and threw a passing touchdown to Romeo Doubs. He completed three of four passes on the drive and scrambled for an extra five.

The next three possessions, two for Washington and one for Green Bay, ended in quick punts.
Starting a few minutes into the second quarter, the Packers would once again piece together an efficient scoring drive.
Love completed three of four passes, but Jacobs was the workhorse of the possession, taking six carries for 19 yards and punching in six from two yards out.

The third quarter was relatively uneventful.
Love completed 13 of 18 passes for 214 yards in the first half. In the third quarter, he went 4/9 for 62 yards. Still, Green Bay was the only team to score in the third and led 17-3 heading into the final quarter.
Washington wasn’t going to go down without a fight, though. They finally managed to work through the Packers’ defense. Jayden Daniels found Zach Ertz to make it 17-10.
Green Bay was quick to dismiss any comeback hopes. They took five minutes off the clock before high-stepping back to a two-possession lead.

They extended their lead to 17 with a field goal on the ensuing possession.
Once again, the Commanders looked to stay alive with a scoring drive that ended in a Daniels passing TD. However, Green Bay held strong down the stretch, and the final whistle was blown, 27-18.
About Jordan Love
Before his time in the league, the Bakersfield, California native played at USU from 2016 to 2019. During his time with the Aggies, Love threw for 8,600 yards, 60 touchdowns, and 29 interceptions with a completion rate of 61 percent.
In 2020, the Packers traded up to select Love with the No. 26 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
During his rookie campaign, the former USU standout was inactive for each of Green Bay’s games.
Love saw limited action in his second and third seasons with the Packers and continued to serve as the backup to four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers. Following the 2022 season, the Packers traded Rodgers to the New York Jets. The Rodgers trade paved the way for Love to be Green Bay’s QB1 in 2023.

In his first two seasons, Love threw for 606 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions with a 60.2 percent completion rate in 10 games played.
In 2023, Love threw for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He also ran for 247 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Packers to a 9-8 record in the regular season.
In two playoff games, the former USU signal-caller threw for 466 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Love was injured early in 2024, but came back and led the Packers to another Wild Card berth with 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Green Bay was knocked out in the first game of the postseason by the eventual champion Philadelphia Eagles.
