SALT LAKE CITY — 20 of Utah’s NFL locals represented causes near and dear to them through the league’s My Cause My Cleats campaign this week.

On the NFL’s football operations website, the campaign is explained.

As part of the collaboration between the NFL and players, players will represent hundreds of charitable organizations that focus on causes from youth wellness to sex trafficking prevention and support for single parents.

Former Utah Utes

Garett Bolles – Broncos OL

Bolles chose to highlight his own non-profit, the GB3 Foundation, which “empowers children with learning disabilities to thrive academically, emotionally, and physically. By pairing mentorship with holistic wellness—from nutrition to spiritual care—the organization helps kids discover their strengths and chase their dreams with confidence. Every success story is proof that the right support can unlock limitless potential.”

“I am honored to highlight my non-profit,” Bolles said. “The mission is to empower youth with learning disabilities to live their dreams.”

Devin Lloyd – Jaguars LB

Lloyd chose to support the Wounded Warrior Project, a “veterans service organization, dedicated to improving the total well-being of post-9/11 wounded, ill, and injured veterans, service members, and their families. Their programs strengthen mental, physical, emotional, and financial wellness—empowering warriors and their loved ones to thrive while helping prevent veteran suicide.”

Braeden Daniels – Dolphins OL

Daniels chose to support The International Dyslexia Association, an organization “dedicated to creating a future where everyone who struggles with dyslexia and related reading differences can thrive. They provide research-based information, training, and advocacy so that individuals, families, and educators have the tools they need to support strong literacy skills and open doors to richer, more fulfilling lives.”

Britain Covey – Eagles WR

Covey chose to support Bridle Up Hope, a foundation based in Alpine, Utah, that “combines the healing connection between humans and horses with the proven principles of The 7 Habits® to empower girls and women. Through riding lessons, life-skills training, and mentorship, they help participants build confidence, resilience, and a renewed sense of hope for their futures.”

“This cause is extremely important to me because it honors my cousin,” Covey said.

Connor O’Toole – Seahawks DE

O’Toole chose to support The Austin Denton Foundation, whose “mission is to raise funds and awareness for organizations that serve, support, and create opportunities for individuals facing adversity, carrying forward Austin’s legacy of courage, gratitude, and living life to the fullest.”

“I went to HS with Austin, who passed from cancer in 2019,” O’Toole said.

Former BYU Cougars

“I’ve previously worked with this organization to provide vaccinations,” Allgeier said. “After losing my dog, I want to raise awareness about vaccinations.”

By empowering nurses with resources and support, the foundation strengthens patient care and drives progress across the entire healthcare system. Their mission is simple: to ensure that those who care for others are cared for too.”

Chris Brooks – Packers RB

Brooks chose to support Helmets4Helmets in honor of his running backs coach, who has a child with epilepsy. The organization “gives kids with epilepsy and disabilities the chance to live, play, and feel safe. Partnering with athletes and celebrities, they raise funds to provide medical helmets and equipment—helping families breathe easier and kids stay active without fear.”

Puka Nacua – Rams WR

Nacua chose to support the American Diabetes Association, which “unites volunteers, health professionals, researchers, and families around one mission: a life free of diabetes and its burdens. They fund groundbreaking research, provide education and support, fight for better policies, and give people affected by diabetes tools to manage their health—turning collective passion into real progress and hope.”

Taysom Hill – Saints TE

Hill chose to support Hope for Fertility, a foundation “for individuals and couples facing infertility, they offer support that shifts the focus from shame and guilt to possibility and growth. By providing resources and help to bridge the gap from infertility to fertility, they encourage people to hold on to hope, even when the journey is long and complicated.”

Fred Warner – 49ers LB

Warer chose to support the East Oakland Youth Development Center, whose “mission is to nurture the holistic development of young people from kindergarten into adulthood so they can live lives of prosperity, integrity, and purpose. Through academic enrichment, arts, athletics, leadership, and career programs, they help youth build skills, confidence, and a clear sense of who they want to become.”

Other Local College Athletes

Jordan Love – Utah State – Packers QB

Love chose to support the Bakersfield Police Activities League, a youth program that “offers young people a path away from gangs, drugs, and violence through sports, education, and mentorship. By connecting police, community leaders, and youth, they’re building trust, confidence, and a shared vision for safer neighborhoods.”

“Both my parents were police officers,” Love explained. “I know how much they cared for the people in my hometown.”

Miles Killebrew – Southern Utah – Steelers S

Killebrew chose to support Café Momentum, an organization that “transforms the lives of justice-involved youth by providing a paid internship program in a gourmet restaurant combined with intensive life-skills training and education. By pairing real work experience with wraparound support, they help young people build stability, confidence, and a path toward their full potential.”

“We wouldn’t have gotten where we are without someone believing in us,” Killebrew said. “It’s our duty to pass that along to the next generation.”

Rashid Shaheed – Weber State – Seahawks WR

Shaheed chose to support two foundations, his own Rashid Shaheed Foundation and Team Gleason.

The Rashid Shaheed Foundation’s “mission is to uplift communities by meeting the essential needs of underserved individuals and families—restoring hope and empowering people to create a brighter future.”

Team Gleason “empowers people with ALS to live purposeful, fulfilling lives. Through cutting-edge assistive technology, essential equipment, and comprehensive support services, they help individuals not just survive a devastating diagnosis—but truly thrive.”

Utah High School Standouts

Jaxson Dart – Roy & Corner Canyon High – Giants QB

Dart chose to support the Utah Parent Center, an organization that ” helps parents help their children, youth, and young adults with disabilities and special healthcare needs live included, productive lives in their communities. By offering information, training, and one-on-one support from people who “get it,” they empower families to navigate systems, advocate for their children, and find a sense of belonging.”

Kaden Elliss – Judge Memorial High – Falcons LB

Elliss chose to support Georgia Kids Belong, an organization that “helps children in foster care find the one thing every child deserves: belonging. By mobilizing communities, supporting foster families, and raising awareness, the organization gives vulnerable kids stability, hope, and the chance to dream of a brighter future.”

“I grew up within a blended family,” Elliss explained. “I’m bringing awareness to the ‘I Belong’ project to increase foster care adoptions.”

Jackson Hawes – Highland High – Bills TE

HighPointe is built around the needs of patients and families. It helps people stay close to top-level treatment and to the people they love during some of the hardest moments of their lives.”

“These kids have gone through so much, it’s only right to give back,” Hawes said.

Jackson Powers-Johnson – Corner Canyon High – Raiders OL

Powers-Johnson chose to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon, where he went to college.

The organization “gives families of seriously ill or injured children a place to stay that feels close to home. With housing, meals, and a supportive community near the hospital, parents can remain close to their child during treatment without the added stress of lodging costs. RMHC of Oregon helps families stay together and stay stronger while their children receive the care they need.”

Jay Tufele – Bingham High – Jets DT

Tufele chose to support the Ronald McDonald House, which “keeps families close when their child is facing medical challenges far from home. By providing a place to stay, warm meals, and everyday essentials only steps from the hospital, they remove financial and logistical worries so parents can focus on what matters most: helping their child heal. Through comfort, community, and care, they make the hardest days a little easier.”

“I choose to support this organization because I grew up in a Samoan household – family is everything in our culture,” Tufele said.
