Week eight of the NFL season kicks off tonight!
From Thursday to Monday, there are plenty of intriguing matchups with ties to the state of Utah worth following.
Here’s a look at the top games — including the one we think stands out above the rest.

Noteworthy Locals In The NFL Week 8 Matchups
Eagles vs. Giants – Sunday, October 26 at 11:00 a.m. (MT)
There is just one local in this game, but the storylines alone make it worthy of this list.
Former Roy & Corner Canyon quarterback Jaxson Dart looks to get revenge for last week’s loss and also beat Philly for the second time this season.
With the rookie under center, New York is 2-2 and borderline must-see TV. Don’t forget, the Giants started 0-3 with Russell Wilson starting.
Falcons vs. Dolphins – Sunday, October 26 at 11:00 a.m. (MT)
The local presence won’t knock your socks off in this one either. But it has the potential to be a great game for different reasons.
For Miami, it’s just former BYU quarterback Zach Wilson, who has only seen spot minutes in garbage time so far this season. For Atlanta, it’s Judge Memorial High linebacker Kaden Elliss and BYU running back Tyler Allgeier.
The Dolphins might have the worst defense in the NFL this season, and specifically, the rush defense is lackluster. Allgeier could have a field day in week eight.
Chiefs vs. Commanders – Monday, October 27 at 6:15 p.m. (MT)
This game is the first on the list with some real numbers behind it.
Kansas City has two BYU Cougars, head coach Andy Reid and offensive lineman Kingsley Suamataia, as well as former Utah State wide receiver Jalen Royals and Kearns High linebacker Jeffrey Bassa. For Washington, it’s former Utah kicker Matt Gay and former Utah State linebacker Bobby Wagner.
Locals aside, this should be an entertaining and competitive game between two good teams.

- The Buffalo Bills return to action against the Carolina Panthers in week eight. Buffalo has former Utah TE Dalton Kincaid, former Utah S Cole Bishop, former Weber State CB Taron Johnson, and Highland High TE Jackson Hawes. For Carolina, it’s former BYU OL Brady Christensen.
- Two receivers on the Saints, Utah’s Devaughn Vele and Weber State’s Rashid Shaheed, will face off against Tampa Bay. New Orleans also has former BYU QB Taysom Hill.
- Two former Utes on the Broncos, Jonah Elliss and Karene Reid, take on the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
Week Eight’s Top Game To Tune In To For Locals
Steelers vs. Packers – Sunday, October 26 at 6:20 p.m. (MT)
Once again, a primetime matchup happens to be the locals’ game of the week.
Green Bay brings former Utah State quarterback Jordan Love, along with two former Cougars, running back Chris Brooks and safety Zayne Anderson.
Unfortunately for Pittsburgh, former Southern Utah safety Miles Killebrew will miss the rest of the season. So, the Steelers have one local, East High running back Jaylen Warren.
This game’s top national storyline: Aaron Rodgers’ first game against Green Bay as a Steeler.
