EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The New England Patriots shut out the New York Jets 33-0 on Monday Night Football. Their defense was tremendous to the point that Jets quarterback Sam Darnold said he was “seeing ghosts.”

Darnold was mic’d up on ESPN and was caught telling one of his coaches on the bench that he was “seeing ghosts.”

After the game, former BYU and current Patriots linebacker was asked about Darnold’s comments.

“He did? (say that),” Van Noy said. “Oh, man that’s the boogeyman for real.”

When the next reporter asked a question Van Noy interrupted him because he was still in shock by the comments made by Darnold.

“Sorry, sorry (to the reporter), he really said that?” Van Noy said when he turned to the reporter with the original question, “That’s crazy for him to say that. That makes it real.”

He was then asked what that comment means to him.

“I can’t believe he said that,” Van Noy stated.

Van Noy and the Patriots kept the pressure on Darnold throughout the game, forcing five turnovers from the second-year quarterback, four interceptions and one fumble. The former BYU star finished with 5 tackles and a fumble recovery in the win as the Patriots are now 7-0 on the season.

After the game, Darnold was asked about his ghost comments.

“For me, I just need to be straight up when I talk to the coaches,” Darnold said. “For me, I just need to see the field a lot better, that’s what that means. It was a rough night out there, obviously, I have to be better, learn from the mistakes, but we will get better.”
