Andrew Brody Out Indefinitely After Undergoing Toe Surgery

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Midway through the second half against LAFC on July 3rd left-back Andrew Brody had his left foot stepped on. The incident resulted in a broken left toe for Brody who will now miss time after undergoing successful surgery to repair the break late last week.

His timeline for return is unknown, Real Salt Lake confirmed.

Brody, 26, was in the midst of having a breakout year for RSL after signing with the first team from the Real Monarchs late last year.

When Aaron Herrera was sidelined earlier in the season after suffering a left-quad injury, Brody burst onto the scene and immediately solidified himself as a capable Major League Soccer player.

His form while filling the void left by Herrera was so impressive that upon Herrera’s return Brody took the starting position of Donny Toia at left-back.

Now, however, RSL will be forced to play Herrera and Toia at the fullback positions after Brody’s recent setback.

Normally, a broken toe will heal itself and players are often capable of playing through the pain. Although, Brody’s break was so significant that his break required surgery and consequently time on the sideline.

RSL’s next fixture will come on the road against LAFC on Saturday, July 17. Kickoff is slated for 8:30 p.m. and can be streamed for free via the KSL Sports & KSL 5 TV apps or on KSL Sports dot com.
