Real Monarchs Defender James Moberg Announces Retirement

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Real Monarch defender James Moberg has announced his retirement effective immediately after six seasons with the Monarchs in the USL Championship.
Moberg, 27, is the longest-tenured Monarchs player and is one of only two players to have played in 100 games for the Monarchs. He concludes his career having appeared in 101 games.

“When I lay my head down at night and look over at my wife and daughter, I can say to myself I gave everything to this game and I left everything I had on the field. I wouldn’t be at this point in my career if it wasn’t for my family. I can’t thank them enough. I’ll forever be indebted to them,” Moberg said. “This game has been everything to me, the lessons I’ve learned on and off the field have shaped me into who I am today. As this chapter closes, I look forward to conquering new challenges and striving to be the best at anything I do.”
Moberg’s accolades and silverware include the 2017 USL Regular Season Shield, the 2019 Western Conference Title, and the Club’s first-ever USL Championship title in 2019.

The University of Washington product will be honored by the Monarchs prior to the Real Monarchs game against Rio Grande Valley on October 27 at 7:00 p.m.
