Jazz rookie Darryn Peterson had his car stolen from his Airbnb driveway

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Jazz guard Darryn Peterson has had a pretty good year, to say the least.
He closed out his one and only season at Kansas, got selected with the second pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, signed his first pro contract, and put his skills on display at Summer League.
But there was one major speed bump during the pre-draft process. During an interview with Chiney Ogwumike in early August, Peterson said that he had his car stolen at an Airbnb he was staying at.
Peterson was asked if he had spent any money from his first contract yet, and he responded by saying his first and only big splurge was on a new car.
The matte black Range Rover was a necessary purchase considering his previous mode of transportation was no longer in his possession.
I got a car. Range Rover. Crazy story: my whip during the pre-draft process got stolen out of the driveway at the Airbnb I was staying at. After it got taken, I was like,’I’m about to just get something else.’
Peterson also said that he learned from that situation, and now keeps his new car in the garage at all times.
Darryn Peterson’s First NBA Offseason
After getting selected with the No. 2 pick in the NBA Draft, it was a quick turnaround to Summer League for Peterson.
Across five Summer League games in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, he averaged 23.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 2.2 stocks a game.

Peterson will make his NBA debut on Wednesday, October 21, against the Grizzlies at the FedEx Forum in Memphis. Two days later on Friday, October 23, Peterson will make his home debut against the New Orleans Pelicans.
