Keyonte George Comes Out Hot, Leads Jazz Early Against Hawks

ATLANTA – Keyonte George was a man on a mission in the first half against the Atlanta Hawks.

In his first 10 minutes, the sophomore guard posted 19 points, three rebounds, and an assist. He single-handedly kept the Jazz within striking distance at State Farm Arena.

Maybe most impressively, he did so with tremendous efficiency. George made six of his first seven attempts, including 4/5 from three.

The Hawks jumped out to an early lead over the Jazz and led 41-28 at the end of the first quarter.

George checked in and played cool, calm, and collected — something the Jazz lacked to start the game.

At times, it feels like George forces looks with the ball in his hands, which leads to turnovers and contested shots.

But not against the Hawks. Like a true veteran, George picked his shots well and made the defense pay for bad timing and miscommunications.

His eight points early in the second quarter dropped the Atlanta lead all the way down to five.

Utah Jazz End Road Trip In Atlanta Against Hawks

The Utah Jazz end their five-game road trip and have a shot at ending their losing streak against the Atlanta Hawks tonight.

Coming into the matchup, the Jazz are riding an eight-game losing streak, have dropped 18 of their last 19, and hold the NBA’s worst record. Tonight marks Utah’s second-to-last road game and their fourth-to-last game overall.

It hasn’t been all peachy for the Hawks either, though. Atlanta has lost three in a row and five of their last six. On the bright side, despite sitting at 36-41, the Hawks have clinched a play-in berth in the Eastern Conference.

This is the second and final matchup between Utah and Atlanta this season. They last faced off on January 7, where the Hawks stole a 124-121 win at Delta Center.
