The portal entry of Kostic marks the eighth BYU player in the 2026 cycle to enter the portal. A program high since the portal began in the 2018-19 season.
A 6-foot-4 guard from Austria, Kostic appeared in 27 games during his freshman season at BYU, starting in five.
Kostic joined the BYU program last summer through a connection between his agent and BYU assistant coach Tim Fanning.
He knocked down 36.7% of his attempts from three-point range this past season.
Kostic didn’t play much until late in the year, after the season-ending injury to Richie Saunders. He strung together three consecutive games of double-figure scoring off the bench, leading to head coach Kevin Young inserting him in the starting lineup for the final five games of the season, including an NCAA Tournament start against Texas.
Kostic’s departure leaves only Khadim Mboup and AJ Dybantsa in the program as players who logged minutes for BYU in the 2025-26 season. And Dybantsa is projected as the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA draft, but has not yet made an official decision on his future.
Kostic finished with averages of 4.4 points, 0.9 rebounds, and 0.4 assists in his one season with the program.
