PROVO, Utah – A one-stop shop for all the comings and goings with the BYU basketball roster for the 2025-26 season.

Keeping track of all the moves needed to build a roster can be challenging. So, let this be a friendly tracker to keep you up to speed.

The 2025-26 season will bring new roster limits to each program, assuming the House v. NCAA settlement is passed. Instead of 13 scholarship players, schools have 15 spots. The catch is that the limit for players carried on the roster is 15. Last season, BYU had 17 players on the roster.

The settlement has yet to pass.

As of Wednesday, May 7, BYU basketball has 13 scholarship players on the 2025-26 season roster.

BYU basketball scholarship players with eligibility remaining

Total: 6 (As of Wednesday, May 7)

  • Dawson Baker (Redshirt-Senior in 2025-26)
  • Richie Saunders (Senior)
  • Keba Keita (Senior)
  • Mihailo Boskovic (Senior)
  • Brody Kozlowski (Sophomore)
  • Khadim Mboup (RS-Freshman)

The BYU basketball roster currently has seven scholarship players from this past season’s Sweet 16 team with eligibility remaining. If everyone in this group returned for next year, that would give BYU three of their five starters from 2025 to build around for the 2026 campaign.

One of those starters, BYU big Keba Keita, was ready to get back to work after BYU’s loss to Alabama in the NCAA Tournament in Newark. He has since announced on Instagram that he would “run it back” for next year.

“Next year, I feel like I can try and lead a little bit, for sure. But, you know, personally, there’s a lot of room for me to improve,” Keba Keita said to KSL Sports after BYU lost to Alabama in the NCAA Sweet 16. “I know we just lost, but I can’t wait to go back and start playing again. So yeah, when it comes down to next year, just wanting to be more of a leader and have a voice.”

Dawson Baker is the type of player who can provide instant offense off the bench. The same goes for forward Mihailo Boskovic.

It will be interesting to see what roles the coaching staff forecasts for Brody Kozlowski and Khadim Mboup in 2026. Kozlowski is the first BYU commit of the Kevin Young era; he flipped from USC to BYU after the coaching changes occurred at both programs.

Mboup could provide a spark off the bench next year on the defensive end. He’s still raw offensively, but he’s got potential on that end of the floor.

Incoming freshmen to the BYU basketball roster in 2025-26

Total: 2 (As of Wednesday, May 7)

  • AJ Dybantsa
  • Xavion Staton

BYU has never signed a prospect like Dybantsa before. Could he lead BYU to a Final Four as Cooper Flagg did for Duke this past season? The expectations will be off the charts, but he’s embracing the challenge and spotlight that comes with being the No. 1 prospect in the land.

Dybantsa arrives on campus on April 29.

Xavion Staton was one of the best rim protectors in the 2025 cycle. He’s still raw as a player. But he’s got a chance to develop into a role right away in BYU’s rotation.

Transfer Portal commitments

Total: 5 (As of Wednesday, May 7)

  • Kennard Davis Jr. (Southern Illinois; Junior)
  • Dominique Diomande (Washington; RS-Freshman)
  • Tyler Mrus (Idaho; RS-Junior)
  • Nate Pickens (UC Riverside; Senior)
  • Robert Wright (Baylor; Sophomore)

Diomande redshirted last year at Washington after joining the Huskies midseason. He’s a 6-foot-7 forward who played at a high level in France before taking his career to the college ranks.

Diomande is a sleeper prospect who could have the potential to play the role Mawot Mag occupied last season.

Baylor guard Robert Wright gives BYU an explosive point guard to take over for Egor Demin. Wright was a Big 12 All-Freshman selection last season.

Walk-ons

  • Jared McGregor (RS-Senior)
  • Max Triplett (Senior)

Forecasting how the walk-ons fit into the roster is tricky. Last season, BYU had 17 players on the roster. The new roster limit in college basketball is 15 spots. Kevin Young’s staff identified Max Triplett, a former transfer from Snow, last offseason.

Transfer Portal entries from BYU

Total: 4 (As of Wednesday, May 7)

  • Kanon Catchings (Committed to Georgia)
  • Elijah Crawford (Committed to UIC)
  • Dallin Hall (Committed to Virginia)
  • Townsend Tripple (Walk-On)

Three players from the Sweet 16 squad have entered the transfer portal. Dallin Hall was the most significant contributor of the three as a reserve guard off the bench.

Kanon Catchings has NBA measurables, but his role faded in the final two months of the season after he began the year as a starter throughout nonconference play.
