BYU Basketball Lands Washington Transfer Dominique Diomande

PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball is already busy in the transfer portal.
The Cougars have signed Washington Huskies transfer Dominique Diomande. On3’s Pete Nakos first reported Diomande’s commitment, which KSL Sports has since confirmed.

Diomande joined the Washington program mid-year this past season. He didn’t appear in any games with the Huskies, so the 2025 season counted as a redshirt. Diomande will join the BYU basketball program with four years left to play four seasons.
The 6-foot-7 fast-twitch prospect hails from Tours, France, and played at ADA Blois before spending the winter in Seattle.
Diomande is a prospect that could have NBA potential.
Last summer, NBAdraft.net projected Diomande as a second-round draft pick. He was named by NBADraftRoom.com as one of 11 “Under the Radar Freshmen with NBA potential.”
Diomande has the potential to fill the void left behind by departing senior Mawot Mag. The former ADA Blois standout in the France-ProA U21 league can defend one to four, as Mag did on many occasions during BYU’s Sweet 16 season this past year.
First transfer commit of the 2025 transfer portal cycle
Dominique Diomande is BYU’s first transfer portal commitment of the 2025 cycle. His commitment comes at a time when the Cougars lost 6-foot-9 forward Kanon Catchings to the portal.
Diomande averaged 15.7 points per game on the offensive end, 5.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.8 steals, while shooting 51% from the field and 37% from three in the French U21 league.
He also competed for the Ivory Coast in the 2021 FIBA U16 African Championships, averaging 21.2 points and 12.0 rebounds per game.
BYU basketball finished the 2024-25 season with a 26-10 record in Kevin Young’s first season as the head coach. The Cougars reached the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 for the first time in 14 years before falling to Alabama in Newark, New Jersey.
