BYU’s Rob Wright III Spreads Holiday Cheer With Hoops Event

OREM, Utah – BYU basketball star guard Rob Wright III gave back to the local community with a day of holiday cheer on the hardwood.
Wright held a free day of basketball for kids ages 10 to 14 at LVL Up Athletics, off 800 North in Orem.

The BYU star, in his sophomore season of college basketball, hosted the event through his Robert O. Wright III Foundation.
Kids were greeted with a t-shirt, a basketball compression shirt that featured Wright’s foundation logo.
Wright’s foundation also provided breakfast and lunch to the kids. There were also barbers on hand to offer free haircuts for children and their parents.

In a season of giving, Wright and his foundation sought to create lasting memories for local youth in the area where he now calls home.
During the four-hour event, children participated in drills, competed in various basketball competitions, and played games.
The basketball activities took place on a court that likely added to the kids’ memories as they competed on the 2023 NBA All-Star Game floor. The same court that was used for the All-Star Game in Salt Lake City at the Delta Center.
Some of the kids got a great memory by trying to re-create Wright’s game-winning shot against Clemson at Madison Square Garden from earlier in the month.

Four kids attempted the three-point shot that saw Wright fade to his right at basketball’s Mecca, but none were able to knock it down as Wright did to give BYU the come-from-behind victory.
Wright also spoke with the young hoopers, encouraging them to chase their dreams and to make the work they put in away from the court in school a top priority.
