BYU football rolls out star talent for Big 12 Media Days

FRISCO, Texas – BYU football is bringing out its star players to the 2026 Big 12 Media Days.
Fitting, considering that the annual Big 12 football event will once again be held at The Star, practice home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, in Frisco, Texas.
A total of six BYU players are making the trip to Media Days.

Among the six player attendees are the reigning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, LJ Martin, and the Big 12 Freshman Offensive Player of the Year, Bear Bachmeier.
Martin opted to return for his senior season after rushing for a career-high 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns a year ago.
Bachmeier had an impressive rise as a freshman a season ago, leading BYU to a 12-win season and passing for 3,033 yards.
The rest of BYU’s attendees include First Team All-Big 12 center Bruce Mitchell and a trio of senior defensive players in linebacker Isaiah Glasker, cornerback Evan Johnson, and defensive lineman Keanu Tanuvasa.
Glasker, Martin, and Tanuvasa are Big 12 Media Day veterans, having represented BYU last year at The Star. Bachmeier, Johnson, and Mitchell are first-time attendees to the Big 12’s tentpole preseason event.
These six players will be key to BYU’s efforts of trying to reach the Big 12 Championship Game again this fall.
Big 12 Media Days: July 7-8 at The Star
BYU takes center stage at Big 12 Media Days on the first day of the two-day event, Tuesday, July 7.
Along with BYU, reigning Big 12 Champion Texas Tech will also be going through the media gauntlet on that same day.
Joining BYU’s players will be head coach Kalani Sitake, who signed a long-term extension with his alma mater last December.
Sitake has quickly become the longest tenured coach in the league. He’s entering his 11th season at BYU, which is longer than any other head coach in the Big 12.
BYU is gearing up for its fourth Big 12 Media Day event. Once a newcomer to the conference, the Cougars have quickly risen to become one of the top programs in the league, notching 23 wins over the last two seasons, the most in that stretch.
