BYU football releases depth chart for Utah Tech game

PROVO – The BYU football depth chart is out for the 2026 season opener against Utah Tech.
Here are some quick notes before diving into the first depth chart of the year for the nationally ranked Cougars.

True freshman climbs to the starting lineup
BYU true freshman wide receiver Legend Glasker is in the starting lineup. The former Lehi High standout is listed as a starter at wide receiver, along with Oregon transfer Kyler Kasper and returner Jojo Phillips.
Glasker hit the ground running in spring ball earlier this year, making impactful plays and, perhaps most importantly, learning the playbook so well that Passing Game Coordinator Fesi Sitake placed him on the first team.
Running backs behind LJ Martin
BYU returns the reigning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year in running back LJ Martin. He will be a focal point of BYU’s offense this season, as he has been since arriving on campus in 2023.
There were questions entering fall camp with the depth behind Martin. Those questions began clearing up as Sione Moa, who dealt with compartment syndrome last year, is back to full strength and comfortably at the RB2 spot.
After Moa, it’s former safety, Preston Rex.
Last year, Rex switched from defense to the offensive side of the ball, and it was an adjustment, as he had never played running back. Now, he’s on the depth chart at RB3 after making plays in fall camp.
