BYU football availability report entering road clash at TCU

PROVO — BYU football returns to Big 12 action this weekend, and that means the return of availability reports.
For every Big 12 Conference game, the Power Four league requires members to publish player availability reports.
Teams are required to submit the initial report on a Wednesday before a Saturday game to designate a player as either OUT, Doubtful, Questionable, or Probable. Any player not listed on the report is assumed to be available for the next game.

BYU football’s availability report was mostly as expected for Saturday’s upcoming road game at TCU.
Starting right tackle Andrew Gentry was ruled out as he is recovering from surgery he had earlier this week.
In Gentry’s place will be either true freshman Bott Mulitalo or redshirt freshman Siosiua Latu-Finau.

Staying at the offensive tackle position, redshirt freshman Ethan Thomason remains sidelined with an injury. KSL Sports spoke with BYU offensive line coach TJ Woods earlier this week, and Woods said they expect Thomason to return to action at some point this season.
Linebacker Siale Esera remains “OUT” for the upcoming game. Esera has been sidelined since the first quarter of the Arizona game on September 12.
The surprising addition to the availability report was freshman kicker Brody Laga. Laga is BYU’s starter on kickoffs.
The former Mountain Ridge High standout, who returned home from a Latter-day Saint mission this past spring, has kicked 22 touchbacks of his 23 kickoffs this season.
What’s also noteworthy for BYU is the players who are not listed. Starting right guard Kyle Sfarcioc missed the Colorado State game; he will return to the starting lineup this week.
BYU will bring back tight end Roger Saleapaga and wide receiver Tiger Bachmeier.

For TCU, EDGE rusher Zach Chapman is listed as questionable. Earlier in the week, TCU coach Sonny Dykes said that he believed Chapman would play.
The 6-foot-5, 265-pound senior has not appeared in a game this season for TCU. Last year, he recorded 28 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
Linebacker Max Carroll was another player being monitored this week for the Horned Frogs. He left last week’s game at UCF early. Carroll does not appear on the initial availability report. He has 15 total tackles, one pass deflection, and one forced fumble so far for TCU.
