BYU Linebacker Leaves West Virginia Game With Injury

PROVO, Utah – BYU was looking to ride the momentum of a 14-0 lead into the second period, but an injury to Jack Kelly put a damper on the first 15 minutes of action.
No. 23 BYU is hosting West Virginia at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Friday, October 3.

BYU can't afford to lose Jack Kelly.
They utilize him in numerous ways within this defense. Big blow if BYU doesn't have him.

Kelly walked off the field and straight into the medical tent to be examined by the team doctors.
Minutes later, he exited with his left arm in a sling. ESPN reported Kelly will be reevaluated at halftime but is ‘unlikely’ to return.

Kelly had two tackles before leaving.
The other half of a dynamic linebacking duo with Isaiah Glasker, Kelly began the game with team-highs in tackles (19), 6.5 tackles for a loss, and four sacks.
The Cougars lead 14-3 midway through the second quarter.
