PROVO, Utah – It’s hard to believe, but it’s been 12 years since BYU football great Kyle Van Noy was in Provo for a gameday.
There’s obviously a good reason for that.

Van Noy has been playing in the NFL every year since he graduated from BYU after the 2013 season.
During his pro career, Van Noy has won two Super Bowls, racked up 56 sacks, 71 tackles for loss, and 547 total tackles.
The BYU legend is currently playing for the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens, where he has six tackles and one sack this season. Van Noy was able to come out to Provo this weekend because the Ravens are on a bye.
Homecoming 12 years in the making for Kyle Van Noy
Van Noy expressed the emotions of returning to Provo for a BYU football game day in a story on his personal website.
It wasn’t always easy for the Reno, Nevada, native. In his first collegiate season in 2009, he sat out for an off-the-field arrest. But he stayed committed to BYU.
It worked out as Van Noy went on to become an All-American at BYU.
Away from the field, he met his wife, Marissa, at BYU, and as Van Noy puts it, his time in Provo was a “blueprint” for staying ready in life.
“BYU didn’t just give me a chance (and a second chance…), it gave me the blueprint for how to stay ready for when your shot finally comes,” wrote Van Noy on his personal Substack page.
He continued, “I’m coming back as a grown man. Married for over a decade to Marissa, my best friend, who started dating me during the BYU days. Two beautiful kids.
“But I’m also the same guy who showed up early to meetings and stayed late watching film. Who refused to believe the draft boards when they passed over my name. Who kept grinding when it would’ve been easier to quit.”

“So excited to be here today. My first thought is just grateful. The opportunity that you guys have, tomorrow night, like, LaVell Edwards Stadium, to a lot of former players, including myself, that’s a sanctuary. And just enjoy the moment. Let it rip,” Van Noy told the team on Friday at the Indoor Practice Facility.
“You guys are prepared. Your coaches have prepared you guys for this. You guys have prepared; you guys have done all of the work. And enjoy the benefits of your hard work. Let’s go!”
Van Noy will be a celebrity guest during Saturday’s Big Noon Kickoff show that will air from Provo in preparation for the BYU-Utah game.
Welcome back home to one of the greatest BYU players of all time.
