PROVO, Utah – President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was honored before tonight’s BYU football game after passing away recently at the age of 101.
BYU is owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

No. 23 BYU is hosting West Virginia at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Friday, October 3.
Kalani Sitake remembers Russell M. Nelson
BYU head coach Kalani Sitake, a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, took a moment to remember the longtime leader.
“It’s been really cool for me to see him as a leader,” Sitake said. “I’m in a really cool spot where I get to meet a lot of the brethren and the General Authorities. So I’ll cherish those moments that I’ve had with the leaders there. I’m excited about this weekend and being able to hear everyone speak.”

General Conference for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is being held this weekend, allowing Sitake and many others to reflect.
“The things that he’s been able to accomplish as our Prophet,” Sitake remembered. “It’s been amazing to hear him speak, and you know, the fact that the conference is going to be this weekend, and it’s going to be different on not hearing him speak this time.”
