PROVO, Utah – No one can slow down BYU women’s basketball at the Marriott Center this year. The 20th ranked Cougars notched their 20th win as they cruised to a 102-53 victory over Pepperdine on Thursday night.

Coming into the game, BYU boasted one of the nation’s top offenses, and they didn’t disappoint the fans in attendance on Thursday night. Two of the attendees included Utah Jazz Governor Ryan Smith and CEO of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge. Ainge, a BYU legend, has been a frequent attendee of BYU women’s basketball home games this season.

BYU Women’s Basketball coach Jeff Judkins hits milestone

The victory over Pepperdine gives BYU head coach Jeff Judkins his 450th career win since becoming the head coach in 2001. He is the winningest coach in BYU basketball history (men’s or women’s).

Out of Judkins’ 450 wins, this performance could be near the top in dominance on the offensive end. After a pair of road games last week that saw BYU with its share of struggles offensively, they got back to their high-powered ways on Thursday night. BYU shot 63% from the field, 53% from three, and 83% from the free-throw line.

BYU’s four leaders led the way in scoring, with Paisley Harding pouring in a game-high 22 points, super senior Tegan Graham adding in 18, and Naismith Trophy candidate Shaylee Gonzales and Lauren Gustin each scoring an additional 16 apiece. All of that scoring came in three-quarters of play. Then, Judkins rolled with his underclassmen in the fourth quarter.

To highlight how efficient BYU was during the 49-point victory, BYU had 73 possessions and averaged 1.425 points per possession.
