BYU Women’s Volleyball Signs Best Recruiting Class Ever

PROVO, Utah – The BYU women’s volleyball team has brought in their highest-rated recruiting class ever.
The Cougars’ class of 2019 has been ranked the fourth-best in the country by PrepVolleyball.com.
“The 2019 class has the potential to impact our program immediately,” BYU head coach Heather Olmstead said. “I love their competitiveness and their desire to be at BYU.”
The eight-player recruiting class includes three players from California, two from Idaho, one from Arizona, one from Hawaii and one from Utah.
Last season, the Cougars advanced all the way to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament, where they were defeated by Stanford.

A ‘Bower’ful Connection
A familiar last name will take the floor for BYU as the program signed sisters Morgan and Whitney Bower from Nampa, Idaho in the recruiting class. The Bower girl’s parents are Danny and Caroline Bower. Danny was a shooting guard for the BYU basketball team from 1998-99 and Caroline was member of BYU’s volleyball team from 1996-99.
In a strange way, Morgan Bower has already been on the floor for BYU. Her mother was pregnant with her while playing in the NCAA Tournament in 1999, according to her bio on the BYU volleyball website.
More Parent Alumni
Another signee in BYU’s class, Morgan Johnson from Temecula, Calif. also has parents who were student-athletes at BYU.
Her mother, Gale, was a volleyball player from 1993-96, while her father, James, played on the offensive line for the Cougars from 1992-96.
