SALT LAKE CITY – Former Farmington High star Collin Chandler is on the move in the transfer portal.

Chandler has spent the first two years of his college career with Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats. The 6-foot-5 combo guard entered the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday.

Since he entered the transfer portal, there has been a lot of speculation that BYU basketball is the favorite to land the sharp-shooting guard.

Chandler was once committed to BYU as a high school senior at Farmington in the class of 2022. At that time, BYU was led by coach Mark Pope.

On Thursday, Chandler addressed Kentucky fans in an Instagram post about his decision to enter the transfer portal. Near the end of his remarks, he gives a potential hit at his next landing spot.

Collin Chandler on transfer portal move: “I am returning home”

“I am so grateful to Coach Pope, the assistant coaches and staff, my teammates, and the University of Kentucky and BBN (Big Blue Nation) for the last 2 years,” wrote Chandler on Instagram.

He continued, “You welcomed me into your family with open arms, were patient with me, and supported me every step of the way.

“You helped me grow so much-not just as a player, but as a man.

“I am returning home and excited for the work and challenges ahead.”

What’s next for the former Farmington High star?

Chandler was the Gatorade Player of the Year in Utah in 2022 at Farmington High School.

This past season at Kentucky, Chandler was the Wildcats’ third-leading scorer and one of the SEC’s top three-point shooters.

In SEC play, Chandler knocked down 45% of his 3-point attempts.

Recruiting outlets such as 247Sports have made “Crystal Ball” predictions that Chandler will commit to BYU out of the transfer portal.

Growing up in the Beehive State, Chandler was a fan of the University of Utah before signing with BYU out of high school, then flipping to Kentucky.

Chandler finished his sophomore season at Kentucky with averages of 9.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.

He’s currently rated as the No. 40 overall transfer prospect in the 2026 transfer portal cycle by 247Sports.
