Devon Dampier Doubles Up, Punches In Second Utah Touchdown Against ASU

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah football quarterback Devon Dampier once again called his own number in the first half against the Arizona State Sun Devils to put the Utes up 14-3.
It was Dampier’s second rushing touchdown of the game and fourth of the season.

It took just three minutes for Utah to gain 59 yards on eight plays. Over the first three drives, Dampier connected on four of his eight pass attempts for 33 yards and added 45 yards on four carries with two TDs.
Utah football’s first series, although a similar result, had a different feel from the second-quarter scoring drive.
That opening possession spanned 15 drives, three quarters of the field, and ate over five minutes off the clock. But still ended in a Dampier scrambling score on 4th down.

Utah Comes Off Bye Week To Host No. 21 Arizona State
The Utah Utes football team returns home after a bye week to host the No. 21 Arizona State Sun Devils at Rice-Eccles Stadium tonight.
Both teams come into the matchup with a 4-1 overall record. ASU lost in week two against a non-conference opponent, Mississippi State. The Utes lost in week four to what is now the highest-ranked team in the Big 12, No. 9 Texas Tech.
The Sun Devils’ starting quarterback, Sam Leavitt, will not play in the week seven game. Backup Jeff Sims will start in his place.
