Reports: Utah State head coach Jerrod Calhoun takes Big 12 job

According to reports, Utah State men’s basketball head coach Jerrod Calhoun is leaving Logan to take a job in the Big 12 conference.

CBS Sports insider Matt Norlander was the first to break the news on Monday.

In two seasons with the Aggies, Calhoun coached the team to a 55-15 record with two NCAA Tournament appearances. USU swept the Mountain West with regular-season and conference-tournament championships in 2026.

Calhoun’s fourth stop as a collegiate head coach will be at his alma mater, Cincinnati.

The Bearcats finished with an 18-15 record last season, which placed them seventh in the Big 12.

According to Norlander, Calhoun had been Cincinnati’s “top target for weeks.”

Calhoun actually started his coaching career in Cinci after playing high school basketball in Cleveland and attending Cleveland State University. He stepped in as a student assistant with the Bearcats in 2003.

On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos added that the Bearcats are expected to have a roster budget that exceeds eight digits, a factor that almost definitely contributed to the move.
