Aggie Linebacker Only Local Player On Butkus Award Watch List

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah State linebacker David Woodward was the only player from a Utah school to be included on the 2019 Butkus Award Watch List.
Woodward also made an appearance on this year’s Sports Illustrated list of the top 100 college football players.
He is entering his junior year. Woodward walked away from last season with five sacks and two interceptions.

The Butkus Award honors the best linebacker in college football.
The award gets its name from Dick Butkus. NFL Films called Dick Butkus the best defensive player in NFL history.
Woodward earned first-team All-American from Pro Football Focus and first-team all-Mountain West by both Athalon Sports and Phil Steele.
