USU RB Calvin Tyler Jr. Reaches 1,000 Yards Rushing For 2022 Season

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State running back Calvin Tyler Jr. surpassed the 1,000-yard mark during the regular season finale against Boise State.
Entering the game against Boise State on the Blue Turf, Calvin Tyler Jr. needed just 22 yards to reach 1,000 rushing yards on the season. He became the 15th Aggie to rush for 1,000 yards in a single season. Tyler Jr. was 138 yards shy of becoming the 11th player in school history to rush for 2,000 yards in a career.
Through three quarters against Boise State, Tyler Jr. had 12 carries for 25 yards with his longest run going for six yards.

About Utah State/Boise State
Boise State enters having already clinched the Mountain West’s No. 1 seed. With it comes home-field advantage in the conference title game against Fresno State on December 3.
Led by dual-threat quarterback Taylen Green, the Broncos have a dynamic offense that averages 29.1 points per game. A redshirt freshman, Green has completed 65 percent of his passes for 1510 yards to go with eight touchdowns and four interceptions. Green has rushed for 346 yards and seven scores.
Add running back George Holani’s 1,008 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, and the Broncos have a formidable rushing attack that accounts for 189 yards per game on the ground. Good for the third-best in the Mountain West.
The Broncos have built the league’s third-best total offense and second-best scoring attack.
Defensively, Boise State provides a formidable test. Fourth in the MW in stopping the run, the Broncos pass defense allows a conference-best 145.4 yards per game. JL Skinner leads the secondary with four interceptions and four pass breakups. Rodney Robinson has picked off three balls this year.
Graduate senior wide receiver Brian Cobbs (63 receptions) is just four grabs away from entering the top 10 in school history for receptions in a season.
