Miles Davis Gives Utah State Early Lead Over No. 18 Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tennessee – Utah State came out swinging in its second matchup with a top 25 team, grabbing a 7-0 lead when Bryon Barnes and Miles Davis connected for a touchdown.
USU traveled to the Volunteer State to tussle with the Vanderbilt Commodores in the program’s final non-conference tilt of 2025.

An eight-play, 75-yard drive was aided by a roughing the passer personal foul that seemed to light a fire under Barnes.
After the Aggie defense forced a Vanderbilt punt, Barnes completed two passes to Braden Pegan for 22 yards and ran for another 22 yards to set up the touchdown.
On 2nd-and-9 from the Vandy 18-yard line, Barnes found Davis in the corner of the end zone off a play-action fake.
It was the ninth passing touchdown for Barnes and the third receiving TD for Davis.
USU leads 7-0 midway through the first quarter.
