Miserable Offensive Night Downs Utah State In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Utah State started slowly and never recovered, falling to UNLV for the second time this season in a 92-65 loss.
UNLV (16-14, 11-8, 8th in MW) hosted the Aggies (24-6, 14-5, 1st in MW) at the Thomas & Mack Center on Tuesday, March 3.
Utah State began the week with a half-game lead over second-place New Mexico.
The Lobos and Aggies meet in the regular season finale for both programs on Saturday, March 7, at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan.

USU was limited to 38 percent shooting (23-of-61) and just 5-of-30 from beyond the arc.

Poor shooting on both sides saw each team start slowly.
USU trailed 11-9 heading into the under-12-minute timeout.

The Aggies missed 12 consecutive shots at one point, beginning the night 3-of-20 from the field with five turnovers in a frigid opening stretch.
UNLV grabbed a 15-11 lead thanks to a more than four-minute scoring drought from the visitors.
Utah State’s nearly 11-minute field goal drought ended when MJ Collins Jr. mercifully drained a three-point shot.

The Aggie starting five combined to shoot 4-of-17.

It was USU’s lowest-scoring first half of the season.

After working his way to the basket for a tough basket, Mason Falslev showed why he is a Mountain West Player of the Year contender on the defensive end.
Falslev moved his feet to draw a charge against Howie Fleming Jr. and give possession to his team, trailing by five.

UNLV led 50-40 with 11:26 left.
The Aggie defense could not generate consistent stops, and the Rebels jumped ahead by 15 with 8 minutes left.
USU’s deficit grew to 23 going into the final media timeout.
Utah State’s 92-65 loss prevented the Aggies from earning at least a share of the Mountain West regular season title.
