Utah State Adds Another Former UMBC Assistant To Odom’s Coaching Staff

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah State announced that men’s basketball head coach Ryan Odom added another former assistant coach from his time at UMBC to his Aggie coaching staff.

Odom left UMBC when he was hired as Utah State’s head coach on April 5. Utah State athletic director John Hartwell officially introduced Odom in a press conference on April 7.
“My family and I are so appreciative of coming to Cache Valley and joining Aggie Nation,” Crawford said in a statement. “The pride and passion that surrounds not only the men’s basketball program, but the University is palpable. We very much cherish the opportunity to help add to the legacy and tradition of those who have come before and are excited to make new memories moving forward. We will do our best to make this community proud.”

Crawford has coached under Odom for the multiple seasons, including stints at UMBC and Lenoir-Rhyne.
Before his time at Lenoir-Rhyne, Crawford was an assistant video coordinator and technical assistant at Texas.
Odom crossed paths with Crawford at Charlotte, where Crawford was a graduate manager from 2011-13.
In 2011, Crawford graduated from Ohio State with a degree in communication analysis. He spent four years as a student manager for the Buckeyes.
A day before hiring Crawford, Odom added former UMBC assistant coach Matt Henry to his coaching staff.

In addition to Crawford and Henry, Odom is bringing one more assistants with him from UMBC to Utah State, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.
The third assistant coach is reportedly Nate Dixon.
The new Aggie assistants will coach in the same roles they did at UMBC, according to Rothstein.
