SALT LAKE CITY — The University of Utah baseball team has entered the chat with a stunning on-campus ballpark.

America First Ballpark spent Year 1 turning heads and stealing hearts as a throwback to America’s Pastime.

With baseball booming in the Beehive State, an eye for the future requires an appreciation for the past. KSL Sports is taking you on a tour of Utah’s most iconic ballparks, the new and the old, to prepare MLB hopefuls for what may come.

America First Ballpark – Utah Utes

The newest of the four ballparks being featured is America First Ballpark, home of the Utah Utes baseball team.

Opened in the spring of 2026, it quickly became both a campus gathering place and a point of pride for a program that had spent three decades sharing a home with the Salt Lake Bees.

“It’s unbelievable,” third-year Ute Cameron Gurney said after January’s ribbon cutting. “Now that we have a place we get to call our own. … It’s truly gonna elevate our game, and we’re super grateful.”

At the south edge of campus, the park sits beneath the constant watch of the Wasatch, separated from the mountains by the sprawling foothills and lush, green neighborhoods of the Salt Lake bench.

For students, the 3,000-seat venue offers an easy escape from campus routine — close enough to feel woven into daily life, but distinct enough to feel like its own world once the first pitch is thrown.

A short staircase leads to the gorgeous steel-and-red-brick facade, feeling equal parts ballpark and campus landmark.

A narrow home plate entrance opens wide onto an expansive synthetic-turf field with the interlocking U stamped in center field like a signature.

And 1,200 chair back seats frame the action on the field while still highlighting the surrounding neighborhood and distant mountain peaks.

Utah’s home dugout rests down the third base line, separated from the concourse by two rows of seats, creating an intimacy that only baseball can offer. To the north, concessions and merchandise stands keep the walkway lively from first pitch to the 27th out.

A few steps farther east, the concourse opens to a clear view of the Utah bullpen beyond the left-field foul line.

On the first-base side, visitors settle in with little relief from the home crowd wrapped around them.

Beyond the visitors’ dugout, the concourse expands, filling with food trucks, giving the park a social gameday feel.

Extending from foul pole to foul pole, the outfield berm gives fans a place to stretch out and watch from a more relaxed perspective.

Above it all, the second level houses coaches’ offices, a full press box, an upgraded sound system, and donor seating — evidence the ballpark is not only a new home, but a sign of where Utah baseball hopes to go next.
