Cam Rising Officially Named Utah’s Starting Quarterback

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah football has named Cam Rising the starting quarterback ahead of the Pac-12 opener against Washington State on Saturday.
Cam Rising becomes the starter after Charlie Brewer decided to leave the program after getting benched in the second half against San Diego State.
Rising entered the game and led the Utes to a massive comeback that ultimately ended in a triple overtime loss to the Aztecs. He went 19-of-32 passing for 153 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 46 yards on the ground.

Rising was the starting quarterback going into the 2020 season before suffering a season-ending injury in the first half in the opener against USC. After a successful surgery and rehab, Rising came back for fall camp after missing spring ball. He competed with Brewer for the starting job, which was won by the Baylor transfer.
Leading up to the Weber State game, Kyle Whittingham said that Brewer’s experience was the main reason why he won the starting job.
Rising will make his second career start when the Utes open Pac-12 play against Washington State at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday, September 25 at 12:30 p.m. MDT on the Pac-12 Network.
