SALT LAKE CITY- Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid was noticeably absent Saturday as the Utes took on Arizona at home, however, he says he’s going to do everything he can to play against Stanford this weekend for Senior Day at RES.

Kincaid got banged up on the Utes’ last touchdown the week before against Washington State and was held out against the Wildcats to rest up. The tight end has been a large part of Utah’s offense the past two seasons and has become a fan favorite due to his personality and playmaking abilities.

One Last Ride At RES

During Kyle Whittingham’s Monday press conference, he said Kincaid is getting close to being ready to play but didn’t offer any further details.

“We hope to have him in time for this weekend,” Whittingham said. “He’ll be close.”

Simultaneously on Jake and Ben, Kincaid sounded determined to play one last game at home, telling the guys he is feeling much better than he did and working on getting treatment every day.

“I’m doing good,” Kincaid said. “Feeling a lot better. Just treating each day- getting a lot of treatment.”

Kincaid revealed he actually tried to play last week against Arizona, but just wasn’t quite ready. It’s not lost on him that this week’s game against Stanford is the last opportunity for him to play in front of the Rice-Eccles crowd and he’s determined to be out on the field.

“I tried to play last week,” Kincaid said. “This is the last game at Rice-Eccles ever for me, so I’m going to do everything I can to play this week. I think it means a lot more- last game at Rice-Eccles, Senior Day. I’m just glad it’s a night game- those night games are fun. Hoping to see a lot of people there to send off the seniors right.”

With Kincaid’s time winding down at Utah, he’s hopeful to have a great relationship with the school after he is done playing for the Utes. Kincaid also noted, that while NIL is great in a lot of regards, the one thing it tarnishes is people’s pride of being an alum of a particular school.

“I hope it’s great- I mean, I’m proud to play here,” Kincaid said. “It’s definitely an honor and that’s the same thing with the University of San Diego- playing there. You put a lot of time into a program and that’s what makes college football so great. That’s the only real sad thing with NIL I’d say is that it leans more toward being the NFL with NIL. You graduate from a program and become an alumni and that’s something I think makes college football so special is representing the university you played for. That’s something I plan to be proud of and represent the rest of my life is being an alumni from here.”
