Kirk Herbstreit Praises Utah Football After Dominating Win Over Oregon

SALT LAKE CITY – ESPN College Gameday host and lead college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit was impressed with Utah’s blowout win over No. 3 Oregon.

Utah defeated Oregon 38-7 in front of a record crowd at Rice-Eccles Stadium in primetime on Saturday night.

Each week, Kirk Herbstreit releases his top performing teams, players and coaches, revealing them on Twitter. On Tuesday afternoon, Herbstreit released his three lists and Utah was on all three of them.

Utah came in at No. 2 on his top performing list, behind Ohio State, who beat Michigan State 56-7 last week. Cincinnati came in at No. 3 after a 48-14 win over SMU. Herbstreit put UCLA at No. 4 following a 62-33 win over rival USC.

South Carolina came in at No. 5 after a 21-17 win over Auburn. Missouri rounded out the list following a 24-23 win over Florida in overtime.

Herbstreit listed seven performances following Week 12. No. 1 was Ohio State’s offense after putting up 56 points on Michigan State. Alabama’s offense came in at No. 2 after scoring 42 points against Arkansas. Quarterback Bryce Young completed 31 of his 40 pass attempts for 559 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Louisville quarterback Malik Cunningham was listed at No. 3 after throwing for 303 yards and 5 TD’s. Wisconsin RB Braelon Allen was listed at No. 4 after racking up 228 yards and three touchdowns in the Badgers’ win over Nebraska.

Utah running back Tavion Thomas came in at No. 5 following a 94-yard, three-touchdown performance. Pittsburgh WR Jordan Addison is the sixth-best performer, according to Herbstreit after hauling in 14 receptions for 202 yards and four touchdowns.

Air Force WR DeAndre Hughes rounded out the list following a strong performance with 221 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in the Falcons’ triple overtime win over Nevada.

Finally, Herbstreit featured five coaches on his list this week. Kyle Whittingham came in at No. 1. Ohio State’s Ryan Day was listed at No. 2. No. 3 was Chris Creighton of Eastern Michigan after their 22-21 win over Western Michigan.

Notre Dame defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman came in at No. 4 following a 55-0 win over Georgia Tech. Oklahoma State DC Jim Knowles rounded out the list after the Cowboys shut out Texas Tech.
