SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The 2020 Pac-12 football season has been announced, with every team playing a combined 10 games to fill their slate.
The conference is attempting to navigate the chaos that surrounds the coronavirus.
“From the onset of the COVID-19 crisis, we have been committed to prioritizing the health and safety of our student-athletes and all those connected to our athletic programs,” said Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott.
In a statement released by the conference, it states that “Pac-12 student-athletes who choose not to participate in intercollegiate athletics during the coming academic year because of safety concerns about COVID-19 will continue to have their scholarships honored by their university and will remain in good standing with their team.”
David Shaw Comments
“Some people have different risk factors than other people have. I think the approach has been a once in a lifetime situation that we are trying to find out way through and those are not comfortable. We completely understand if they (student-athletes) do not want to participate,” Stanford head coach David Shaw said.
Utah Football’s conference schedule begins with a road trip to Washington State on September 26.
