San Diego Transfer Tight End Dalton Kincaid Declared Eligible For Utah By NCAA

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah football received some good news this week that San Diego transfer tight end Dalton Kincaid was declared eligible by the NCAA.

The Utes were hoping to hear some good news this week and now Kincaid will be able to play this season beginning with the 2020 opener against Arizona on Saturday, November 7 at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

This is big news for Utah as Kincaid gives a talented tight end group more depth.

“He’s eligible,” head coach Kyle Whittingham told the media on Friday morning. “That was a huge positive. Found out I believe it was Wednesday afternoon the NCAA had granted him eligibility and that was big because he is a fine player and is going to be in our plans right away.”

Having Kincaid in the rotation would allow some depth for Utah at tight end but also would give offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig of using a two-tight end set which would allow Brant Kuithe to be used in the backfield.

Kincaid played two seasons for the Toreros in 2018 and 2019. As a freshman, Kincaid averaged 15.6 yards per catch and 31.2 yards per game in 2018. He hauled in 24 catches for 374 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Last season in 2019, the Las Vegas, Nevada native caught 44 passes for 835 yards and 8 touchdowns in 12 games played. He averaged 19 yards per reception and 69.6 yards per game and was named an Associated Press All-American.

In two seasons, Kincaid had 68 receptions for 1,209 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Utah will begin the 2020 season against Arizona on Saturday, November 7 at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The game will kickoff at 2 p.m. MT and will be broadcast on ESPNU.
