Utah Baseball Gets Special Visit From Alum Casey Childs

SALT LAKE CITY- Utah baseball had a special visitor for their game against Stanford Saturday afternoon. Recent Crimson Club Hall of Fame inductee Casey Child came out to show support for his alma mater and take in a beautiful day for some baseball.

Bases Are Loaded And Casey’s At Bat
Child became a phenom for Utah baseball in the late ’90s setting basically every single-season hitting record for the Utes. The decorated outfielder earned All-Western Athletic Conference honors and First Team All-America honors before being selected by the Anaheim Angels in the 1997 MLB Draft.
In his junior year in 1996, Child hit .392 with 45 RBIs, ten long balls, and 20 doubles. Child was only getting started. During his final year with the Utes in 1997, Child went on a record setting rampage- all of which still stand today. Child ended the last year of his career at Utah with 104 hits, 31 home runs, 97 runs batted in, 27 stolen bases, and an 890 slugging percentage.
Child’s professional career was short only spending two seasons in 1997 and 1998 playing in the Minor Leagues with the Boise Hawks and the Cedar Rapids Kernels.
Put Me In Coach
While Child looks like he could still pick up and bat and play, these days his focus is on his company. Child founded G2G Protein Bars after his playing days were over and has gone from creating protein bars in his kitchen to selling them in major retailers.
All it took for Child to go national and international with his brand is a friend quipping that he should start his own business during a golf trip. The rest as they always say, is history.
